Notice of Leaving
Notice of Leaving
All tenants are required to give notice to leave the tenancy agreement. Your tenancy agreement will state when this must be done. The following information is for NRLA branded tenancy agreements, If you have a legacy OpenRent tenancy agreement, please contact us as some of the information is slightly different.
All tenancy agreements have an initial fixed term. Please check your tenancy agreement but normally this is 6 months for a Shared House (also known as a House of Multiple Occupancy or HMO room)and 12 months for a house let.
We don't normally allow tenancies to be ended during the fixed term but might do so at our discretion, please email us for further information.
You can give notice during your initial fixed term, so that your tenancy ends on the last day of your tenancy agreement, providing it's a minimum of one full rental period.
If you stay after the initial fixed term, your tenancy agreement is periodic. You can give notice at any time, so that your tenancy ends on the last day of your rental period, providing it's a minimum of one full rental period.
Rental Period means the time between Rent due dates on your original AST. For example, when the tenancy is monthly and the tenancy agreement start date was the 10th of the month, the Rental Period will be from the 10th to the 9th of the following month, each month. You may have asked for your rent payment date to be changed, this DOES NOT change the Rental Period, please check your AST to check.
Open the Calculator HERE. (opens in a new page)
Please enter the start date of your tenancy agreement (DD/MM/YY) and select from the dropdown menu the initial fixed term length.
